Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax 11/7 – 11/13

SUPing by Day, Shag Dancing by Night…

Feel like you’ve been binge watching too much Netflix lately? Well, that’s about to change!

Jacksonville has a bunch of fun events going on this week, so let’s put a dent in your hours watching TV and get you doing something that sounds more fun while we (try to) get used to day light savings.

Wednesday, November 7

– It seems like there is a lot of The Office trivia around these parts, but how can you blame ‘em? Graffiti Junktion in Jax Beach is hosting the party from 8-10 PM AND there will be $200 in prizes. So brush up on your knowledge of Michael Scott (such as knowing his desk recently sold for $12,000 at a memorabilia auction) and get ready to drink with your friends.

– Ever heard of “The World’s Largest Coloring Book Party” at Kona Skatepark? If so, consider volunteering! If not, it is a fundraiser for the Kid’s Mural Project, where they get to color the whole skatepark. It’s SICK. If you want to volunteer and help provide some fun for the kids, they are having a meeting on November 7 at 6 PM! Let’s do some good.

Thursday, November 8

– So we’ve all driven by Burrito Gallery on Beach Blvd time and time again, but now how about we go in for some trivia?! Thursdays are made for trivia with Trivia Nation at Burrito Gallery! Of course, it is free but you can win some prizes. So you can actually PROFIT from trivia. How cool is that?! 8 PM, be there or be square.

– At Lake Shore Bar in Jacksonville, be a part of their 8-Ball Tournament at 8:30 PM on Thursday. If you think you stun some folks when you shoot billiards, come out for only $10 and try to win the cash prize for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place!

Friday, November 9

– The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach is hosting their 28th annual Holiday Shopping event to raise money for local arts educational programs! We are starting to reach crunch time for buying gifts for those special people before the holidays, so hop on it at the Cultural Center all day!

– Why not add another awesome fundraiser to our lives? And right next to the beach, how can we say no? At Casa Marina on Friday night, prepare yourself for Margarita J’Ville at 10 PM. Tickets may seem pricey but it includes UNLIMITED margaritas, island-inspired cuisine, live music, and raffles! Sounds fun AND you’re benefiting children, so go!

Saturday, November 10

– From 2-8PM, St. Johns Town Center is kicking off the holiday season with their 13th annual Holiday Spectacular! If you’re starting to get into the holiday spirit, then come out and enjoy some “snow”, caricature artists, hot chocolate, and giveaways! Anyone looking for some fun (and good gifts), don’t miss out.

– At 8 AM, the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club is having its Grand Reopening!! Anyone who loves golfing and wants to celebrate, get your clubs and golf shoes READY. After 9 months of grounds updates and improvements, this course is now more playable, aesthetically pleasing, and DOPE.

Sunday, November 11

– Lynch’s live music is bomb. Basically, that’s why everyone goes there. Well, and the whole alcoholic drinks thing… This Sunday, Chillula is playing live once more at Lynch’s at 10 PM. Get your friends, get a drink, and prepare for a fun night with NO COVER. Enjoy a little funk and R&B hits all night!

– Everyone in Florida knows (and loves) stand up paddleboarding. At Guana River State Park, you can be a part of the SUP club by coming out for a 75-minute sunset class. All equipment, including the SUP board, is provided! Only thing you need to bring is a good attitude…and maybe some sunscreen.

Monday, November 12

Mellow Mushroom in Jax Beach is at it again…with more trivia! Every Monday night at 7 PM, you have your chance to drink with your friends and win prizes. It’s free to play so there are no reasons to say no!

Tuesday, November 13

– Want to feel a little artsy? Take a stroll along 1st Street in Jax Beach to get a good view of some purty art from 5-9PM! Over 90 local artists will be there showcasing their art, so come out and support the locals. Maybe you’ll even find yourself a nice, new piece for your house.

– Want some old school dance lessons? River City Brewing Company is hosting every Tuesday for some Shag Dance lessons at 7 PM. Whether you are a highly skilled shagger or brand new, why not come out, grab some drinks, and learn to shag? That’s the spirit.

So whether you just want to get outside with some stand-up paddleboarding, share some drinks with your friends, or find a fun fundraiser, Jacksonville has got it all! Regardless of what you get into this week, don’t forget to share it with us by tagging #FrayLife #JaxFray on social.

What’s that…you still need even more fun ideas for the week ahead? Why not venture over to Avondale and see why it’s one of the coolest neighborhoods in the city!?
