Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax 10/10 – 10/16
It’s another splendid week of fall. The sun is shining, the tank is clean…The tank is clean!?! (Does anyone else love that quote from Finding Nemo?)
Well, regardless of the fact that quote definitely does not apply to our living situations as humans…Let’s enjoy the 2nd week of October and fall weather to the FULLEST.
Wednesday, October 10
– Aside from the fact that the World Golf Hall of Fame is seriously DOPE, you can get in on even MORE action at the Farmer’s Market they will be holding on Wednesday! From 4-7PM, come out to this free event and get yo self some healthy produce.
– The show must go on…And comedian Eddie Izzard will help out with just that. His show, Believe Me, is both funny and emotional to display the man who hides behind his humor. Bill Gates himself actually loves Izzard’s first book, Believe Me. Come on out and listen to his story from 8-11PM at The Florida Theatre.
Thursday, October 11
– GastroJax is sharing the healthy wealth through some amazing produce at Jacksonville Farmers Market AND some amazing beer through Engine 15. Get a $40 ticket to Moon Over the Market that includes 10 samples from Bellwether, Blue Bamboo, Rummies and Yummies, and many more. Don’t miss out on this fun event held under sparkling lights.
– Benise ‘Fuego!’ – Anyone looking to put a bit of fuego in their Thursday night plans? The Emmy award-winning show is finally coming ablaze in Jacksonville at the Florida Theatre! Benise, ‘The Prince of Spanish Guitar’ takes all its viewers on a romantic and unique journey of both music and dance that truly captures the FUEGO of Spain! Get your tickets tickets, people.
Friday, October 12
– Who wants to pop some bubbly? I do, I do! Who also wants to have a good time at an upscale BBQ? I do, I do! The Bubble and BBQ party is going down Friday at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens from 7-9PM. Only 150 tickets will be offered, so the event is going to make you feel super special if you get a ticket and chill at the beautiful riverfront setting.
Saturday, October 13
– Responsible for putting some spring in your step with their buzzing beats, Trail Diver will be keeping it real at Surfer all night long! Of course, it is FREE and we all know Surfer has the best drinks. Come one, come all.
– Who else is a huge HP4L fan?! If you know what that means than YOU ARE. Well, for those of you that love the magical world of wizardry, the World’s Biggest Wizard Pub Crawl is returning this week! They have a full route planned for some awesome pub-crawling, so get a bloody ticket (early sign-ups will get a free commemorative wand)!
Sunday, October 14
– With another away game (sadly), get yourself to an awesome watch party to root on the Jags! Jaxx Sports Bar is hosting a good ‘ole watch party in Downtown Jacksonville, starting at 4:25. With some good grub and an even better atmosphere, prepare to party.
– I got 2 phones, one for the plug and one for Kevin Gates. Jk, but who else loved that song? Kevin Gates is bringing the heat to Jacksonville Sunday night at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. Grab all your close pals, your swaggiest shirt, and your TICKET.
Monday, October 15
– Maybe you went to the Kevin Gates concert and now you need to just relax and bring it down a notch…so go to some yoga! From 5-6PM at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, Lindsey Robin is throwing a Vinyasa Flow Yoga class for only $10. Get some better flexibility and a right state of mind.
– We all want to add some certifications to our resume, right? At Aquatic Facility Training & Consultants, you can get your Pool Operator certification and truly learn, with hands-on experience, how to operate pool in a “real world” scenario. Why not grow your brain power?!
Tuesday, October 16
– Y’all ready to dance?!? With 2 hours of nonstop dancing to the best old-school rock & roll music, bring your dancing shoes and your best pals to Billy Buchanan’s Sock Hoppin’ Be-Boppin’ Juke Joint Jamboree!! The best attire you can rock is upscale ‘50s and ‘60s trends so break out the poodle skirts, ladies.
– For my country-lovin’ folk, Anderson East is coming to Mavericks Live from 7PM- midnight to give the crowd some boot-stompin’ music (that was some seriously, old school country talk). So shine up your cowboy boots and grab your best friends as you prepare to see a once-on-the-Ellen-DeGeneres-Show artist!
I hope you all feel that there is enough variety this week to spice up your lives during the fall season in Jacksonville! If worse comes to worse, just go get a pumpkin spice latte and that should surely add the spice you need.
