Oh What a Brew-tiful Time to Check Out These JAX Coffee Shops
The weather is getting a chillier—well at least by Florida’s standards it is.While some of us are loving it, the rest of us are looking for ways to stay warm, or maybe it has nothing to do with the weather and we just can’t survive a day without our caffeine fix because, you know adulting?
If you’re like me and not sure how to function without your daily cup of joe, then let’s get you coffee-loving people to some local Riverside spots stat! Whether it’s to treat yourself, keep warm, get you through that morning– whatever it is you need, coffee is our best friend. Check out these local spots next time you’re looking for a caffeine buzz:
BREW Five Points
One must-try spot is BREW in Five Points, which opened its doors in 2014 and focuses on espresso drinks. Make sure to order yourself a cappuccino, latte, cold brew, or whatever your favorite caffeinated drink is and get comfortable. Even if you’re in a rush, you can grab your beverage of choice to go. One cup isn’t enough? No worries—you can get yourself a growler filled with their coffee to enjoy for many days to come. BREW is more than just your basic coffee shop, though; its food is bomb too. Get some breakfast tacos, toast (the basic b*itch for sure), or a delicious baked good like a cinnamon roll or kolache. No matter what you choose, you will not be disappointed!
#FrayLife Tip: Need an afternoon pick-me-up without the caffeine jitters? BREW also has several craft beer options available!
VAGABOND
If you’re a true coffee lover, you can’t come through the Riverside area and not make a quick trip over to Murray Hill to get a delicious beverage from Vagabond. Order a coffee, latte, or cold brew and don’t forget to ask what new, seasonal flavor options are available. With super friendly and knowledgeable baristas, they’re sure to make a solid recommendation. Vagabond’s décor is hard not to notice, as circus pennats cover the walls, and make you want to start your own collection of pennants to hang (okay I admit it, I tried).
On a sunny day make sure you sit outside and check out the seriously cool wall mural, perfect for a good selfie and Insta post. You’ll be sure to get some likes while also spreading the vagabond love to all. And lets be real, everyone needs to try Vagabond so win-win situation.
#FrayLife Tip: Work downtown and can’t make it to Murray Hill before work? You’re in luck! They just opened a new downtown location on Hogan Street!
BOLD BEAN
If you live in Jacksonville and like coffee but haven’t been to Bold Bean, then what are you doing with your life??? For us Riversiders, Bold Bean is a fan favorite to grab our favorite roasted coffee at their Stockton Street location. They also have spots in San Marco and the beaches, though. Bold Bean is the perfect spot no matter what vibe you are looking for. You can grab coffee with a friend and chat all day in their bright, open indoor space, or bring your computer and get some work done. Take advantage of the beautiful Florida weather at their tables out front, or kick back with friends at their picnic tables
No matter how you like your coffee you will find a flavor you like at Bold Bean. Grab a honey latte, a spicy chai tea, or if you just like yours black they have more than enough craft options to choose from. Ditch your red cups one day this week and go try something new. You won’t regret it.
COOL MOOSE CAFÉ
Ahhh, how I love thee. If you’re looking for more than just a cup of coffee and a baked good, let me direct you to Cool Moose Cafe. Enjoy some delicious coffee drinks while indulging in a meal from their full breakfast and lunch menus. Walking in you’ll notice the rustic vibe, which will make you want to hang out there all day reading a book while sipping on a latte.
Located on Park Street, right off of King, it makes for the perfect breakfast spot before meandering around other shops in the area. They have a few outside tables, so you can even bring your furry friends with you. If you’re visiting on a weekend, though, I recommend getting their early to beat the crowd! Cool Moose Café has been around since 1998 and with their friendly staff, great food, and delicious coffee drinks, it’s sure to be a local favorite for years to come.
#FrayLife Tip: They are closed on Monday, so make sure you pick one of the 6 other days of the week to give them a visit!
