Ray LaMontagne at the Florida Theatre
This Grammy winning troubadour is one of the most beloved singer songwriters of his generation, he’s found continued success with his understated, heartfelt Americana. He’s touring in support of his latest record, 2020’s “Monovision,” performing an intimate gig at the gorgeous Florida Theatre that is the perfect endpoint (or start!) to a first date. $49.50-$99.50; 8 p.m.; 128 East Forsyth Street, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL; floridatheatre.com // @FloridaTheatre

The Head And The Heart at the Saint Augustine Amphitheater
Earlier this year, popular indie folk group The Head and the Heart launched into their first tour since an inadvertent, COVID-induced hiatus from the road interrupted their normally relentless touring schedule. Since May, they’ve criss-crossed the country, hitting festivals and outdoor venues all over the place, joined by a rotating cast of likeminded opening acts. They’ve finally made their way to the Jacksonville area, accompanied by rabble-rousing singer songwriter Shakey Graves. These two acts make warm, accessible Americana-influenced rock music, perfect for echoing across The Saint Augustine Amphitheater, beer in hand as you get to know your date. $34.50-$64.50; 6:30 p.m.; 1340C A1A South St. Augustine, Florida; theamp.com // @theampsa

Mac Sabbath at Jack Rabbits Live
This is not really first date material for everyone, or mostly anyone really, but you’ve met someone special if the two of you can agree to head to a gig headlined by a fast food-themed Black Sabbath tribute band performed a band dressed up as residents of McDonaldland. There’s a lid for every pot and we’re fairly certain if two people can bond together at a Mac Sabbath show, there’s a good chance they’ll be together for life. $20; 8 p.m.; 1528 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL; jaxlive.com // @jackrabbitslive

Paramore at the Saint Augustine Amphitheater
Going deep on the nostalgia tip is another surefire route for first date bonding. Relive memories of your childhood crushes and high school emo phase while screaming along to “Still Into You” and “That’s What You Get.” This is the perfect gig to bond about over a beer afterwards, seeing what long-forgotten stories resurface. $37-$97; 1340C A1A South St. Augustine, Florida; theamp.com // @theampsa

Black Violin at Florida Theatre
Kick off December with an early swing into the holiday spirit, as the innovative classical/hip-hop hybrid musical duo Black Violin stop through town on their Give Thanks Holiday Tour. The gig promises to be much more interesting than your typical parade of tired Christmas carols, as the duo perform genre-hopping originals (and a few classics) prominently featuring both virtuosic violin playing and modern hip-hip production. $42.50-$65; 7 p.m.; 128 East Forsyth Street, Suite 300, Jacksonville FL; floridatheatre.com // @FloridaTheatre
