Best Record Stores in Jacksonville

Whether you’re just dipping your toe into starting a record collection or you’ve got decades of crate digging experience under your belt, there are plenty of great options for buying physical media locally. If you’re like us and live by the mantra “every day is Record Store Day,” make a point to check out these five high quality shops in the Jacksonville area.

DJ’s Record Shop

Soul music is the name of the game at DJ’s, a charmingly overstuffed mainstay of the Jacksonville music scene. There are LPs, CDs and 45s everywhere you look, in every corner of the shop, a vision of organized chaos that looks familiar to collectors of all kinds. Owned by Jerry “DJ” West, who opened the shop in 1968 (then known as Jerry’s Records), the shop is a source for the vintage soul music that’s playing from open to close daily, as well as jazz, rock, and other record store mainstays. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; 2999 Edison Ave, Jacksonville, FL

Tonevendor Records

Though perhaps best known to music nerds worldwide as a valuable record mail-order resource, Tonevendor has a high quality brick and mortar space in St. Augustine. Tucked in an unassuming corner next to a book shop and art gallery, this mini cultural oasis has a huge stock of new and used vinyl, as well as high quality audio equipment and accessories to get your home audio setup on point. This surprising hub for independent music is a must-visit for anyone with a record collection. Open daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 81d King Street St. Augustine, FL; tonevendor.com // @tonevendor

Tiger Records

This Riverside record shop opened in 2019 with an inventory dominated by obscure and collectable punk/hardcore albums, but has since developed a deep catalog of hip hop, soul, indie, and just about every other subgenre collectors obsess over. This cozy, welcoming space has quickly become a go-to for Jacksonville area music nerds eager to comb through a sea of crates, full of obscure and not-so-obscure LPs, in search of their next big score. Open daily, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; 875 Stockton St., Jacksonville, FL; tigerrecs.com // @tigerrecs

Eraser Records

Like many of the best record stores in the country, Eraser Records acts as more than just a retail space full of LPs, they also host live events like the recurring standup comedy showcase Funhouse, DJ sets, and live, all ages concerts. Just like the aforementioned Tiger Records, Eraser opened in 2019, full of music nerd ephemera like posters, tote bags, shits, as well as locally-made art, zines, and other crafts. Thursday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; 1026 Edgewood Ave., South Jacksonville, FL; eraserrecords.net // @eraserrecordsjax

Yesterday & Today Records

With a focus on used and vintage records from the second half of the 20th century, Yesterday & Today is a crate diggers paradise, a place where patience and an eye for hidden gems will be rewarded with killer finds at totally fair prices. While their used section is robust, Yesterday & Today stocks plenty of fresh copies of modern classics and new releases, ensuring there’s something for record collectors at every level of nerddom.
