From Alligators to Museum Art, Here are the Best Boredom Busters in Jacksonville.

Don’t sleep on Jacksonville, guys! Maybe you’ve lived in Jax for a while, or you’re on vacation and hitting a slow day, either way you have somehow found yourself in NEED of something to do. Look no further – I have the answers!

Beach Bowl

It’s a classic activity – bowling. But it’s the best at Beach Bowl! You can’t beat the deals here, like their Tuesday Night special for only $6 a person for 2 games. Whether you steal a deal or not, Beach Bowl has your back and they even offer some good grub.

#FrayLife Tip: Saturday Night is only $13 all-you-can-bowl but it also includes shoes and a crazy glow-in-the-dark black light theme!

Alligator Farm

It’s not exactly in Jacksonville, that’s true. But it is located in St. Augustine which is only 25 minutes away. Here at Alligator Farm, you can catch a show with an alligator feeding frenzy, or zipline over exhibits, or just take a gander at all the different species. It’s only $25 a person and a priceless experience.

#FrayLife Tip: They’re open 365 days a year, so you know they take their shit seriously.

Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens

With free admission, the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is a beautiful place to be. It has 5,000 objects in its Permanent Collection of artwork and 2.5 acres of historic gardens. The Museum also has a nationally recognized, interactive educational program. Want to get your intellectual learning on? Go here.

#FrayLife Tip: This is actually a favorite wedding venue location in Jacksonville!

Catty Shack Ranch

This nonprofit organization does a great job of providing a home for some of our endangered, biggest cats. Catty Shack Ranch has a Night Feeding, where you get to watch over 600 pounds of meat distributed throughout the sanctuary. Talk about lions, tigers, and… there’s actually no bears…Sorry.

#FrayLife Tip: A Day Tour is only $10!

Tinseltown

I know it seems like, for whatever reason, a lot of the deals go down on Tuesday. Tinseltown is one of them. With $5 Tuesdays, you can go see any movie you want for only $5 a person. Maybe you’re bored and lonely and in need of something to distract you from your break-up (too personal?), but sneak in and go see a groovy movie for only $5.

#FrayLife Tip: They also have a Cinemark Movie Club that you can join and get deals every month!

Intracoastal Fishing

With a Florida freshwater fishing license being free at most local fishing stores, this is a great chance to get outside and do some affordable fishing. If you own or rent a kayak, you can paddle your way out into the Jacksonville Intracoastal from San Pablo Rd and just fish off your boat. Just be kind and throw the fishies back in.

#FrayLife Tip: I recommend going during high tide because it gets super muddy during low tide.

Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens

Everyone in Jax will tell you, our zoo is dope. General admission is $20 a person and you get a guided map of all the exhibits. There are events going on all the time and a play park & splash ground. My personal favorite area is Stingray Bay, where you can touch the stingrays through the water as they swim by.

#FrayLife Tip: Memberships to the zoo start as low as $50 and last all year. With that comes loads of benefits like free admission year round. Plus, all that money goes towards the animals so you can feel good about yourself.

Little Talbot Island State Park

Little Talbot is one of the remaining undeveloped barrier islands in Northeast Florida, and an awesome place for relaxing. They have Maritime forests, desert-like dunes and undisturbed salt marshes, plus a lot of animal sightings (like cute river otters). So bring a hammock and a cooler, and just hang out with all your pals.

#FrayLife Tip: It’s $5 to get in, so bring a little cash.

Rain or shine, I hope you can find something to do with all of the places and events going down around Jacksonville!
