4 Movie Marathon Events To Check Out This September
There’s something about a movie marathon in an actual movie theater. Maybe it’s the lack of access to daylight mixed with the smell of melted butter that makes it feel like an out-of-body experience. Or maybe it’s staring at a giant screen for hours on end. Either way, watching several movies in a row with a room full of fans is just plain fun. It’s not just a solo experience; it’s a time where we can bond over our shared love of movies. This month, there are quite a few marathon events in Jacksonville, so we’ll be highlighting a few, from contemporary camp classics to memorable mobsters.
9.09 – 9.11
“Twilight” Saga Marathon at Regal Avenues
A “Twilight” resurgence is upon us and as a woman who was a sad, horny teenager when these books and movies were released, I couldn’t be happier. That isn’t to say I think these movies are good. But they are camp masterpieces. The baseball scene. Renessme’s horrible CGI. Dakota Fanning throwing a baby in a fire. Spending a weekend watching all five films sounds like time well spent, I think. Rated PG-13. 9525 Phillips Highway, Jacksonville, FL
9.12 + 9.13
“The Godfather” Marathon at Regal Avenues
We come to you on this day to let you know about “The Godfather Parts I & II” marathon. Whether you’ve watched it every it appeared on cable or have yet to experience the pinnacle of mafia movies, this is a must-attend event. Rated R. 9525 Phillips Highway, Jacksonville, FL
