It’s August…it’s Jacksonville…it’s HOT.

So the solution is to find everyone a good blend of activities for those that embrace the heat outside and for those that would rather chill in the AC. Fret not – the weekly wins are HERE.

Read below to plan your fun for the next 7 days, and make sure to share us in the excitement by tagging #FrayLife #JaxFray in your social posts (you may even get regrammed on our account)!

– Missed all the Jumbo Shrimp games so far? Head to the Jacksonville Baseball Grounds tomorrow at 7:05 to see some cute canines and crustaceans! All fans can bring their well-behaved doggies on a leash to the ballpark! Prob want to be sure your pup is friendly…

– Anyone love grapes? The Congaree and Penn Farm has muscadine grape vines waiting for you! From 10 AM-2 PM, go out and pick all the grapes your heart desires for as little as $5, and then simply enjoy the “fruits” of your labor.

– At the Florida Theatre at 5:30, the Blues, Brews, and BBQ is giving you unlimited access to an assortment of the city’s best BBQ paired with local craft beer and live music by Beale Street and The Snacks Blues Band. All this for only $50!

 – From 6-11:30 PM, you’re getting a big opportunity to do some rooftop partying in honor of this week’s full moon. River & Post will be hosting the fun at their sky bar and lounge. Drink specials will be offered and live music starts at 7. I even hear there are glow sticks…

 – So an English rock guitarist, an English singer, and an American singer & songwriter walk into a bar…and start a band! (Did you get the joke reference?) At Daily’s Place at 7 PM, you can watch all 3 of these artists jam out for only $20.

 – Calling all the night owls who like some bass guitar! From 10 PM-2 AM, the Jacksonville edition of The Basement is going down at River City Brewing Company! With tickets at $15 and beer for you to consume, no reason not to go (unless you like sleep…).

– Anyone else love a good classic? The Florida Theatre is showing 1998 hit The Big Lebowski for just $7 this Sunday. Go watch The Dude have his rug soiled and relive the timeless tale that goes deep into the Los Angeles underworld all because of a big accident.

– BrewHound is hosting a National Dog Day Festival at the wonderful 25-acre Dogwood Park. You do not have to be a dogwood member! Instead, for only $6.42, you and your canine friend can enjoy the event with all proceeds going to Friends of Jacksonville Animals. They even have doggie ice cream and puppy pools!

 – Marlin & Barrel Distillery are teaming up with the Volstead, where it all goes down, to teach you how to make classic cocktails for $45 and learn their history. Plan on drinking some dranks, learning new skills, and showing off your talent.

Tuesday, August 28

– For a unique girls night out, come join the group at Creative Grain Studio at 6:30 to create a beautiful flower arrangement. You also get to paint a block sign that you can customize for your home! For $55, come out and learn how to do all these great womanly works!

– With Jacksonville’s homelessness population on the rise, the 2018 August Surge focuses on surveying civilians around Jacksonville who may be experiencing homelessness. Volunteers will be trained and go out in small groups. RSVP here or call (904) 352-2828 to lend a helping hand!

Whether you’re on the prowl for some fun in the sun, a good spot to meet a hot date, or a volunteer activity to help out the world, this week has a ton going on! As always, DDDUUUVVVAAALLL.
