Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax 8/1 – 8/7

Another week, another…way to have some fun (I’m trying to match another-day-another-dollar expression, but it ain’t happening).

Whoever is ready for a bit of Jacksonville magic, saddle up and let’s ride…and don’t forget to tag us using #FrayLife #JaxFray in all of this week’s fun adventures!

Wednesday, August 1

Come experience an art walk at the Front Porch downtown, featuring giant games, food trucks, local artisans, a full bar, and art. This FREE event is happening from 5-9 and, between you and me, I heard the Happy Grilled Cheese food truck will be there (best in Jax)!

– For anyone that likes a little, free, heated game of trivia, head to the Jax Beach Hoptinger for just that! On Wednesdays at 9 PM, it gets LIT.

With a 2 block GREEN ZONE on Laura Street between Adams and Bay Street downtown, the USGBC Green Lion Festival will be going down from 5-9. With food and beer, they are promoting local vendors’ art and green-focused businesses. Come on out and support a great initiative!

Peace, love, and rock & roll. What else do you need? At the Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park, the HippieFest 2018 will be spreading the love. Anyone that is looking to feel some good vibes, get your $33 tickets now!

– On Tuesdays and Thursdays at Flask & Cannon, prepare for some trivia at 7:30 PM! They normally do an 80s, 90s, and early 2000s pop culture trivia, a fan favorite. Plus, get yourself a good ‘ole brewski.

Friday, August 3

– While all your friends might just be getting drunk at the beach bars, you can be the classy one watching Cirque Du Soleil at 7:30 at the Veterans Memorial Arena. Once this eccentric show is over, then you can go get hammered with your friends.

– 1st Place Sports always has some great runs going on, but this one takes the cake. The Tour de Pain is actually 3 brutal races in 2 short days. If you feel up to racing a 4 miler on Friday at 6:30 PM, then sign up! And just worry about the other 2 races later…

Saturday, August 4

– I know it’s sad to think of little piggies getting the ax, but at least bacon tastes really good…? Anyways, if you’re a bacon-lover, Bold City Grill is hosting the 2018 Bacon Fest at Sheraton Jacksonville Hotel from 4-7 PM. For only $15, get ready for bacon-inspired cocktails and much more!

– At 1898 Wambolt Street in Jacksonville, prepare for some PAINT and POWDER. This colorful street party is just a hodgepodge of people painting, throwing powder, and splashing in some water all for $20 if you buy before August 4. It’s all going down at 9 PM. Bring yo frands.

Sunday, August 5

– Have you guys been going to any of these movies? They’re AWESOME. We all love Sleepless in Seattle, mostly because we all love Tom Hanks. Take a hot date for only $7.50 a person and get cozy with those romantic vibes.

– For anybody that really enjoys Sunday Funday, go to Myth Nightclub for all the fun you want from 9 PM-2 AM (seriously, you have to be willing to turn up). If you go before 11 PM, it’s free entry and then you can save up some money for those VIP Bottle Specials all night long.

Monday, August 6

– 7:30 PM at the Veterans Memorial Arena, prepare for a SMACKDOWN. WWE Monday Night Raw will be tearing up the rink, and you can go watch for only $15! So let’s watch and enjoy, but remember, don’t try it at home.

– Who loves running? I do, I do!!! Well starting at 6 PM at Tijuana Flats, there will be a summer run that is usually about 3 miles. Go burn some calories and indulge in the discounted beer afterwards. Win, win.

Tuesday, August 7

– With these tickets on Groupon (wink, wink), you can jam out to 311 and the Offspring for a steal! At Daily’s Place at 7 PM, get ready for a concert you won’t forget.

– From 7-9 PM at Culhane’s Irish Pub in Atlantic Beach, the Beer-Centric Traveler is teaching us all about beer-centric destinations in the USA and in Europe! This one focuses on Ireland (we all love Ireland, guys). Of course, you get some beer samplings, too.

Anyone that has some energy to burn, get out and about in Jacksonville, and explore what the city offers! You get to pick from live music, painting parties, summer races, and so much more. So we all know that saying, “there’s nothing to do”, just won’t fly any longer.
